Symposium: "Women’s Day Off" – From Grassroots Action to National Policy

Participated as an invited discussant in a symposium hosted by the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies (III) following the preview of the documentary Women’s Day Off. Engaging with Icelandic Member of Parliament Jón Gunnarsson and Counselor Ragnar Þorvarðarson, I addressed the historical trajectory of Iceland’s gender equality movements and its implications for Japanese welfare restructuring. The conversation centered on bridging the gap between policy and cultural mindset, specifically regarding parental leave and the necessity of male engagement in domestic responsibilities to achieve systemic social change.
