Gendai Media | Feature: Iceland’s Gender Equality and the "Women’s Day Off"
I was featured in special report by Gendai Business covering the Japanese premiere of the documentary Women’s Day Off. The article highlights a high-level dialogue held at the University of Tokyo in October 2025, where I participated as a student discussant alongside Jón Gunnarsson (Icelandic MP and Chair of the Future Committee), Ragnar Þorvarðarson (Counselor at the Embassy of Iceland), and Professor Kaori Hayashi (Executive Vice President of the University of Tokyo). During the session, I shared my perspectives on the intersection of grassroots movements and social policy, specifically discussing Iceland’s "Gender Bond" initiative, the evolution of male involvement in domestic welfare, and how these historical trajectories compare to the current socio-cultural landscape of gender-based division of labor in Japan.
